Here are instructions on how to reconfigure your e-mail program to use the VFR mail server:
Outlook Express
- Bring the program on to your screen.
- Click on "tools" and then "accounts."
- Click on the tab that says "mail."
- Click once on the mail account you want to modify so it is highlighted.
- Now click on the box to the right that says "Properties."
- Now click on the tab that says "Servers."
- Under "Server Information" change the name of the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server to: mail.vfr.net
- Similarly, change the name of the Incoming Mail (POP3) server to: mail.vfr.net
- Click the box that says "apply" in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
- Click on "OK" and then click on "Close." You are now done.
Eudora Light
- Bring the program on to your screen.
- Click on "tools" and then "options."
- In the column on the left, high light the category that says "Hosts" by clicking on it one time.
- On the right side, in the box labeled "SMTP" type in: mail.vfr.net
If your e-mail address uses garlic.com (i.e. your address is xxxx@garlic.com) then you need to make a few minor changes.
(If your e-mail address is xxxx@vfr.net - go to step 5 below)
- In the "category" columnclick on "Personal Info"
- Change your e-mail address from xxx@garlic.com to xxx@vfr.net (where the xxx is your user name)
- In the "Reply to" box put your regular e-mail address, i.e. xxx@garlic.com
- Please note, this will NOT change your e-mail address. Your address will be the same as it always was.
- Click "OK". You are now done.
Microsoft Outlook
- Bring the program on to your screen.
- Click on "Tools" and then "Services."
- Highlight "Internet Mail" and click on "Properties."
- Under the "general" tab, in the box labeled "Internet Mail server" type in: mail.vfr.net
- Now click on "Advanced Options:"
- Where it asks for the outbound mail server type in: mail.vfr.net
- Click "OK" then click on "Apply" and then "OK" again. You are now done.
Microsoft Exchange
- Bring the program on to your screen - usually by double clicking on the Inbox icon on your desktop.
- Choose the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen and click on "Services."
- Highlight "Internet Mail" and click on "Properties"
- Under the "general" tab, in the box labeled "Internet Mail server" type in: mail.vfr.net
- When you are finished, click on "OK." You are now done.
Netscape Navigator 3.x for Windows 95
- Bring the program on to your screen.
- Click on "Options" and select "Mail and News Preferences."
- Click on the "Servers" tab.
- Where it asks for the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server" type in: mail.vfr.net
- Where it asks for the "Incoming Mail (POP3) Server" type in: mail.vfr.net
- Click on "OK." You are now done.
Netscape Communicator for Windows 95
- Bring the program on to your screen.
- Click on "Edit" and then "preferences"
- Double click on "Mail & Groups"
- Click on "Mail Server"
- Where it asks for the "Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server" type in: mail.vfr.net
- Where it asks for the "Incoming Mail Server" type in: mail.vfr.net
- Click on "OK." You are now done.
