If you spend any time on the Internet you will either receive, or perhaps have already received, e-mail from friends warning you about certain e-mail messages that may contain computer damaging viruses (sometimes called "Trojan horses").
Some of these messages may contain good advice. However, it appears that the majority of them are hoaxes and do no more than cause needless concern.
How can you determine which warnings are valid and which are hoaxes? It's easy.
The federal government has created a web site where you can check out these virus warnings. To go there just click on the address below and look for the particular name of the virus about which you were warned:
