The
greatest happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved - loved for
ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves. - Victor Hugo
The difference between love and lust is that in love you want
what is best for the other person. In lust, you just want the other person.
Woman's

A woman uses her intelligence to find reasons to

On Marriage
You were born
together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You
shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you
shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let
there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let
the winds of the heavens dance between you.
Love one
another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it
rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill
each other's cup but drink not from one cup.
Give one
another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and
dance together and be joyous, but let each one you be alone,
Even as
the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver
with the same music.
Give
your hearts, but not into each other's keeping. For only the hand of Life can
contain your hearts.
And
stand together yet not too near together:
For the
pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the
oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow. - Kahlil
Gibran

Children
Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from
you, And though they are with you yet they belong
not to you.
You may give them your love but not
your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not
their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of
tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but
seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with
yesterday.
You are the bows from which your
children as living arrows are sent forth.
The Archer sees the mark upon the path
of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift
and far.
Let your bending in the Archer's hand
be for gladness; For even as He loves the arrow that
flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable. - Kahlil Gibran
If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever
else you
do well matters very much.
– Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
There are only two lasting
bequests we can hope to leave our children. One is roots; the other, wings.
- Hodding Carter
I
believe the children are our future.
Teach them well and let them lead the way.
- Linda Cress
What's done to children, they will do to
society.
- Karl Menninger
The
best thing to spend on your children is your time. – Louise Hart
A child is not a vessel to be filled, rather a lamp to be lighted. - "The Talking Turtle," Nova
If it moves, children will chase it.
If it's bigger than they
are, they'll climb it.
And it they can put it in
their mouths, they will. - td
Thank God for kids. - Eddie

The Star Thrower
by Loren Eiseley
A young man
was picking up objects off the beach and tossing them out into the sea. A
second man approached him, and saw that the objects were starfish.
"Why in
the world are you throwing starfish into the water?"
"If the
starfish are still on the beach when the tide goes out and the sun rises high in the sky, they will die," replied the
young man.
"That's
ridiculous. There are thousands of miles of beach and millions of starfish.
You can't really believe that what you're doing could possibly make a difference!"
The young
man picked up another starfish, paused thoughtfully, and remarked as he
tossed it out into the waves, "It makes a difference to this one."
